John Husk
Chief Handshaker
WITH 22 YEARS of sales, marketing and management experience, John Husk came to Babcock from the grain and supply side of agriculture.
AFTER ATTENDING Austin Community College and Iowa State University majoring in Agriculture and Agriculture Business, John began his career as a crop scout for Huntting Elevator Company in 1977. For the next 20 years he was the general manager of Huntting's businesses in Hayfield, Waltham, and Claremont, Minnesota, until becoming the General Manager of FREMAR Farmers Cooperative Inc. in Marion, South Dakota.
BABCOCK CHOSE Huntting Elevator as feed supplier in the 1980’s, and for over 10 years Huntting Elevator was the exclusive feed supplier to Babcock’s Research and Development Center.
JOHN’S INVOLVEMENT in Babcock’s nutrition program led to a close relationship with Babcock, built on trust and mutual benefit, and an intricate understanding of Babcock’s strengths.
THROUGHOUT AGRICULTURE, tight margins brought on by competition and low commodity prices have prompted all suppliers in all sectors to examine their basic business strategies. Babcock's strategy of employing trained sales and support people who can provide a high level of technical service enables us to continue to be a leader in Swine Genetics.
THE CLOSED HERD™ SYSTEM clearly differentiates Babcock from all the competition. The strength of decades of combined experience and a straightforward, honest, customer focused way of doing business will continue to widen the gap away from our competition.
THE GOAL OF THE SALES DEPARTMENT is to grow the business by showing producers our track record and show them how they can grow their own profitability. As the pork industry continues to evolve and the consumer continues to demand a better product we are confident that Babcock is positioned to help today's producer meet those future needs.
