". . . a model of environmental stewardship"
Hog Industry Insider, pg. 25, Feedstuffs, February 23, 1998
"Aurora County, South Dakota, has roughly four people per square mile. The sparsely-populated farming community is an intriguing study in Great Plains hog resistance.
. . . Even if amendments pass, commissioners could use approve permits if producers obtain waviers from neighbors, according to (John) Niles (county commissioner), who was surprised by the outcry, considering facilities would be built in a remote part of a county that has had no problems with hogs. He observed a two-year-old, 1,800 sow unit owned by Babcock Swine of Rochester, Minn., has been a model of environmental stewardship."
