Babcock Licensed to Use IMF Technology to Improve Pork Quality

Rochester, Minnesota, July 20, 1998—Babcock Swine, Inc. has become the first U. S. based swine breeding stock company licensed to use the intramuscular fat gene technology (IMF Technology) to improve pork quality. Babcock was licensed by the Innovations Foundation, a technology licensing company founded by the University of Toronto.

Innovations Foundation and Babcock have enjoyed a long association in the interest of improving pork quality, beginning in 1992 when Babcock was the first U.S. based company licensed by Innovations Foundation to use the HAL-1843 gene marker test for the elimination of the halothane gene.
